Work came to a halt this morning delaying work on the Bruce Highway upgrade on the Haughton River Floodplain.
15 activists blocked the highway preventing BMD workers from working.
Protesters believe a rumour that BMD had been contracted to work on the controversial Adani Rail line.
An climate alarmist protester sat on a plastic chair on the railway tracks stating,
" Step up and take peaceful, powerful, non violent action to keep sending this message. Because coal needs to stay in the ground if we have any chance of being global warming below 2 degrees above industrial levels".
Police arrived on the scene at around 6:50am with no protesters taken into custody.
